The Turkish newspaper "Sabah" reported on 29 November 2015 the death
of Ahmed Abdullah, a member of the Syrian Turkmen Brigades, a group
fighting the Syrian government in the Bayırbucak region. The region,
which has a long border with Turkey and a dominant Syrian Turkmen
majority, is regularly targeted by Russian air raids.
The flag is celestial blue with white charges: a crescent and star
and the shahada along the top of the flag.

The Syrian Turkmen Brigades (also called the Syrian Turkmen Army) (Turkish:
Suriye Türkmen Ordusu/Cephesi) had already been mentioned here in the "Syrian
Civil War 2011-onwards"
section but no flag had been identified up to now. It is the military wing of
the Syrian Turkmen
Assembly.

Another flag used by the Brigades is celestial blue with a white crescent and
star and a thin vertical white stripe placed close to the hoist. This flag was
reported by Tomislav Todoroviæ among the flags of the
Syrian Democratic
Turkmen Movement.
The flag was seen during the press conference of t1he Syria Turkmen
Revolutionary Military Council announcing the unification of all Turkmen
brigades in northern Syria.

Accordingly, this flag could be more "official" that the flag  inscribed
with the "shahada". It seems to be used only in military contexts (but,
unfortunately, there is little chance of seeing in another context). It might be
"re-assessed" as the flag of the Syrian Turkmen Brigades.

"The Syrian Turkmen Brigades, also called the United Turkmen Army (Turkish:
Birleşik Türkmen Ordusu), represent a wide spectrum of ideologies from Islamism
to secular right-wing Turkish nationalism, often in affiliation with the Turkish
terrorist “Grey Wolves” organization. They are composed of dozens of divisions
and brigades and trained by the SADAT International Defense Consultancy company
(known as Erdogan’s Black Water-type private militias). They have recruited not
only local Arabs and Turkomans but also Turks and Turkic people from North
Caucasus, Central Asia and beyond."

The blue flag of "Suleyman Sah Birligi" (Turkey militia in Syria) with
white-color imagery; c. Oct. 2020. The logo of the Suleyman Shah Union consists
of the traditional crescent and star with two arrows on either side. On the
fletching of the arrow, we can read the word ''Turk'' in the old Turkic Orkhon
alphabet, which is usually used by Turkish nationalists. The blue-and-white
colours are commonly used by Syrian Turkmen.
